Jen McAlinden is a PhD student at Dundee University. She started out with a degree in Medical Biochemistry from Glasgow University in 2001, then went on the study for PhD in Neuroscience at Cardiff University.

Then she had 2 daughters, now both at University themselves. In 2013 Jen decided to rebel and went to art college in Dundee to study textile design graduating in 2017. Sometime in early 2023 she thought it would be a great idea to go back to university again, this time to study for Masters in Art, Science and Visual Thinking, graduating in 2024.

At this point Jen had probably gone completely mad which is why in 2025, she started her PhD in creating resources to help pre-school children learn about microbes. Being now in her eleventybillionth year as a student, Jen (and her now 3 daughters) would be delighted if someone just offered her a nice job.
